Sports Hall Athletic's

On Monday 31st October 18 children travelled to Townley Grammar School to compete in Bexley’s annual sports hall athletics’. The competition consisted of five field events (chest-push, javelin, speed bounce, vertical jump and long jump). Everyone gave it their all and there were some brilliant scores, we comfortably won 3 events. Onto the track events, again everyone gave such an impressive display and we dominated the track events winning 4 out of 8 races. Unfortunately it wasn’t enough to win overall.
Upland finished in very respectable 2nd place. Well done everyone!

KS2 Cross Country

KS2 Cross Country Results

Congratulations to the 8 KS2 children who competed at Bexley’s annual Cross-Country Competition at Beth’s. I selected four children from years 3 and 4 who ran 800 meters and four children from years 5 and 6 who ran 1500 meters. They all gave 100% and showed great resilience to keep going when the race got tough. Upland finished 11th of out of 23 schools and received the determination award.

Year 3 Handball - Up Cup

On Monday 15th October 13 year 3 children travelled to Upton Primary School to compete in the Up Cup. The children played 4 games winning 2, drawing 2 and losing 4.Although Upland didn’t win overall, the children showed tremendous team work and determination through-out. Well done team!

Boys Football

After four positive performances at Crook Log the boys team will met Fosters in round one of the Keven McCarthy cup. In a very entertaining first half of football, Upland took advantage of some poor goal keeping errors and led 3-1 at the break. Upland continued to attack and create lots of opportunities during the second half and eventually ran out 6-3 winners. A great performance and the team will now face Old Bexley.

Round 2 - An away game against a tough Old Bexley side. The first half began with Old Bexley taking an early lead. But the boys heads didn't drop, if anything the boys grew in confidence and created chance after chance but couldn't find a way past the Old Bexley goal keeper. The second half followed in a similar pattern with Upland having most of the ball but just couldn't find the all important goal. With five minutes left the team went all out attack and unfortunately got caught on the counter attack three times. Full time Old Bexley 4-0 Upland. The score line did flatter Old Bexley in a performance where Upland did deserve more from the game.

Netball League

Upland vs St Paulinus   - Monday 28th January 2019

Upland hosted St Paulinus in there last home game of the season. It was a fast start by St Paulinus who finished the first quarter 3-1 up. In the second quarter both teams created lots of chances but couldn’t find that scoring touch. The third quarter Upland came alive and turned the score around 5-4. In a very end to end last quarter both teams went for the win. After a frantic last 6 minutes the game ended 7-7. It was an excellent point for the team.

The team’s last match of the season is against Hillsgrove.

Bedonwell away - Monday 14th January 2019

Upland's netball team began 2019 with a win away to Bedonwell. In a very close fought contest Upland eventual won the game 7-6. Trailing in the second quarter 3-1 the team managed to turn the game round thanks to some excellent shooting from the attackers in the third and fourth quarters.
Upland's next match is against St Paulinus.

The netball teams first match of the season was away at Foster. A very close game where both teams keep possession of the ball well but couldn't find that all important scoring touch to win the game. The game finished in a 1-1 draw with plenty of positives to take from the game.

Up next was another away match against last year finalist St Stephens. The first quarter was very one side with St Stephens 4-0 up inside 6 minutes. The game continued after the break with Upland growing into game and becoming more confident which lead to several dangerous attacks. The second and third quarters where very tight and the team manged to pull one goal back. St Stephens ran out 6-1 winners, but I was extremely proud of the teams determination to keep fighting.
